that bit takes a cradle which an old nokia or seimens phone fits into...from memory the nokia is a 6210 ???? |

find a holder/cradle and then a phone which will be 2G and i believe 2G will be switched off soon.. |

From what I have seen 2G is expected to outlive 3G.. but maybe we are reading different bits of the internet! Or equally unreliable bits!

It was a rubbish solution btw - bluetooth was actually better. All the cradle gave was annoying text messages on the screen ...... I think I probably plugged mine in twice!! Land Rover Addict

I have this set up in my SL and put my regular phone on call forward. No blue tooth in the Merc.

Just curious but does anyone know how to remove that phone cradle altogether to turn that space into a storage area? |

On our 2006 tdv8 it was just a matter of opening the main cubby lid & removing the 6 torx screws that hold the top piece with the phone holder.

We have a 2003 which has the same phone and it is still unused in the car. I'll take some pics at the weekend. I don't think it's a Nokia and it takes the old mega big SIM cards! I did put a SIM card in it once but never got it to work! |
