Door card removal

I have to remove the driver side interior door card to replace a broken cable and was watching a few
Youtube videos but they have been 2005's and 2006's. Is the removal any different for a 2011??

Shouldn’t be - can’t see any change on mine from when I changed my 2004 dvrs door card.

Thank you! Can the door handle cable installed without unhooking all the electronic cables??

Removed for a glass replacement, this photo gives an idea of the passenger door on a right hand drive car, I assume the driver's door on a left hand drive is similar.

I seem to recall there are 5 screws to remove, one in the handle recess and four, note of two different lengths, on the other areas of the card. The yellow fittings show the points for the card securing bits,

It should then lift up releasing from the window seal and the arrow points to a little fiddly connection part to get to/release as you do this. Remove the electrical connectors and the door lock cable and you're in.

Not sure but I think the cable can be accessed without removing the cables, but that is not too difficult.

Hope this helps Cheers
Richard

Not really a good idea as you need to support the door card then. It also puts strain on what are pretty flimsy cables which could snap. Just take a photo of the wires in situ and then replace. Thumbs Up

I'll clarify:

If you do not want to remove the e-cables have someone assist. Otherwise releasing the e-cables is not onerous, the connectors are, IIRC, different shapes etc.. Cheers

Thank you all!! Great info. I also ordered new door panel
Clips as they usually get damaged on removal.

Thanks from all of us, it's what we are on here for, asking for assistance and when we can passing on what we (think) we know. Great help from many members.

Picture I loaded was during a replacement of a left hand window after a stone cracked it.... launched from a council contractor's lawn tractor.... Mad Cheers

I've just done the same thing on the driver's side to replace a blown speaker. The great British weather then decided to release a monsoon just as I got the door card off. Fiddly is an understatement when you're outside, can't shut the door and only have one pair of hands.

My question though is, is there a knack to getting said door card back in place?

It's on temporarily, but the fit isn't great at the top, and I've lost functionality on the power wing mirror, and locking from the key fob. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

Sir Knight

The fit at the top is a bit fiddly and needs care and patience to engage all parts. I seem to recall that the fitter who replaced our side window said that the trim around the window aperture on the door could need removing in part or whole if you can't wiggle the trim card back.

On the funcionality, could it be one or two of the connectors are not in full contact, assuming you had the card off and connectors released, or a wire displaced/loose. Perhaps check/clean these and I wonder if a battery reset may assist after that. Cheers

Thanks for the tips.

I have a feeling the functionality could be down to the large multi-connector which you need to release by means of a flat-blade screwdriver. I was in a hurry so no doubt it's not located properly. Going to attempt a refit on Saturday so will report back.

Yay, all sorted...well kind of. What a difference a dry sunny day makes!

Definitely a lot easier to get the door card back on if you remove the window trim...thanks for the tip Thumbs Up
Only thing not working now is the power fold for the wing mirror. Mirror adjustment works, so it’s not a power thing...there’s always something. Joys of RR ownership Rolling Eyes Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

Thumbs Up

I sometimes wonder if the joy comes from fixing them. Confused

Still wouldn't be without it. Cheers

Hi RJFF,

Ok. I have got the 4 screws out and released all the yellow clips going around the bottom and sides and disconnected the battery. I am
having a difficult time getting the top trim by the door lock button to release. I am afraid ill break something. Is there a step i am missing???
