I am determined to learn more about the workings of the DPF regeneration process, but every day become more confused.

A 100mile Motorway trip where I expected to see virtually no increase in soot level, but in practice it went up from 3.4g to 14.9g...

The last 3 days I have been out doing very short stop start town trips, never getting over 30mph.
I have just rechecked my soot level , fully expecting it to be 16g plus, heading towards the 17.5g regen threshold.

But... it’s dropped from 14.8g to 10.9g.

My head is starting to hurt

I can't understand it either!

Been thinking about it and might do a bit more research, but the DPF has three measurements; pressure in and out measured by voltage. And a temperature sensor. It measures the pressure difference by I've no idea how it gets to the grams.

My theory is that it's a equation, a estimate.

Might explain the nonsensical behaviours?

I'll get googling...

On the subject or warning lights , I've gone 2.5 years with the light coming on only once till yesterday morning on way to get gearbox flushed , I thought but manually kept it in third on bingley bypass which isn't very long , light still on as I hit traffic in Keighley but surprisingly went out half way through Keighley whilst in traffic !!!
