L322 4.4 TDV8 Air Conditioing problem

I have an air con problem on my 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster. It has been getting worse over the last two years and now the air con barely gets even cool and certainly never cold. The inside front screen often mists up too.

I have twice had the air con regassed but it has not helped.

At first the air con seemed OK but started not to get really cold. For the last 12 months it has worked OK if you are travelling along but when stationary or in slow traffic it has not worked at all.

In the last few weeks it doesn’t seem to ever blow cold or even cool air even when moving forward.

I am based in Hertfordshire. Does anyone know a good automotive air conditioning specialist in the area? Alternatively anyone had the same symptoms and found a cure?

Thank you.

In the past I have used excellent agricultural engineers, most new tractor and harvesters have now got aircon and they did a really thorough job at sensible prices. Have a look around for a Massey Ferguson or JCB dealer. BMW i3 Electric Car

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere. They should do a full vacuum test on it though before re-gassing. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Sounds like the common fault with the compressor pressure valve.

The compressors ruin constantly on these later models and there is an electrically operated valve fitted that controls the compressor. These stick and fail.

Have a look at this thread http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic43778.html

They are a swine to change as you have to remove the compressor.

If there are no leaks then it does sound like he compressor control valve.

I've just had my whole compressor replaced as the bulk of the cost is removing it. It didn't seem worth just replacing the valve.

It was very expensive though. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I did the opposite - and just changed the valve - but, it's a good full day's work (or was for me).

Thanks to everyone. I have now read the other thread. I think a replacement of the compressor and valve should do the trick.

I think the new compressor will come with the valve already fitted.
