England 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zambezi Silver
Westminster?

Hi all

I currently run a L494 which is due to be replaced next year.

With all the problems currently affecting Land Rover vehicles, along with diesel now being the fuel of the Devil, I am considering buying a 2012 Westminster and running it for a couple of years to allow:

*Land Rover to sort out the many issues that plague the range.
*A chance for electric powered cars to evolve and develop.
*A chance for me to get to tinker with a car and service it to a high standard.

Now by all accounts at the end of its life the L322 was fairly well put together and the 4.4 V8 bullet proof. What are the pitfalls of the “Westie”? What should I look out for apart from a good service history?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

have a look at baltic blue's common fault thread and you will see that though there are a few problems these aren't common problems.

there is the turbo drain mod to look out for, some small oil leaks to check for, rust in the usual places etc and the usual RR suspension clonks etc which will need atending to in due course.

personally I wouldn't be 100% set on a westie, keep an eye out for a nice AB, vogue or VSE, they are all pretty much the same unless you are desperate for toys.

Pretty much all the 4.4s are put together the same but I would go for the best looked after, lowest milage best nick one you can find. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Westie is just a trim level. Iirc it was carpet, a few other add-ons such as heated/cooled seats etc. Much better go for an SE or AB.

I thought that the Westie was the run out model as the L405 came in?

It was but if you look at the spec it was just cooled seats, different alloys and a couple of other things, but nothing to touch a good SE or AB. You are right they are all 2012 but you shouldn’t preclude anything else just because of that. Thumbs Up

Heated / cooled seats but not the same leather used on the SE/ Autobiography models, believe all westies came with illuminated sills and the HD sound system as standard too. I'd agree an MY11.5 /12 SE or Autobiography on a like for like condition / history basis is the pick of the crop.

From memory the main WM improvements were the top audio and the heated/cooled seats. The WM audio is, for my ears anyway, better than the standard AB audio of the 405 and so presumably better than the standard AB audio of the 322. As ever with RRs the thing is to buy on condition, plus things like whether you need a towbar, colour/trim etc. The Baltic Blue fault list will help you decide. Corrosion seemed to me a notable weakness of the later 322s, so check for that. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I have searched for the Baltic Blue buyers check list in the search function and on the Wiki page.

Where can I find it?

Hi Gary

Yes, I know. I sent you an email asking a couple of questions about it earlier in the week. 👍
