Does anyone know if there is an alternative to lifeguard 8 atf fluid . I have been told that Motul atf VI meets the spec.

It may well do but why risk it.

you can get gen ZF at under £20 a litre..... IMHO the better option. Yes I know its probably made by someone for ZF but without knowing who.

The motul stuff is red, the ZF stuff is a very light green colour. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yet another ‘universal’ inventory-reduction fluid that uses non-legal terms such as ‘is suitable for’ and ‘recommended for use in’ and claims to be a suitable replacement for Dexron VI, Lifeguard Fluid 6, Lifeguard Fluid 8, etc., etc. Of course they recommend the use of their own fluid, the question is do Land Rover or ZF?

Other than Lifeguard Fluid 8, the only ZF approved fluid for use in the 8HP70X is Petronas Tutela Transmission AS8.

The Aus product looks good? but I can not understand why here it is said that you can not use ZF6 for ZF8 gearbox yet the Australian oil states it is suitable for both gearboxes?

Thanks for your replies. I have just spoken to Millers oils tech department and they have a product which is a direct equivalent to zf life guard 8. Their reference is Millermatic 8 speed which the tech guys there give as a direct equivalent to Lifeguard.
its £79 for 10 litres delivered from opie oils.

The Millers one will be ideal, there is also Febi and a few others.

We have six that cover Lifeguard 8 https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-1432-atf-auto...s=@(1523)@*ava=0]&

Can LG8 be used instead of LG6 in the 6-speed?

I got the Millers oil from Opie for £79 and a genuine ZF filter on line delivered for £75 . So total £154 which I think is good considering some of the costs I have seen whilst researching the subject.

The Millers option is literally 50% the cost of Lifeguard8
I just bought 10 litres of Lifeguard8 for £187 out of Germany.
I'm just not confident to go the 'equivalents' given RRPhil's advice.
. Cheers, Greg
