Will 275/55/20 fit on L405 with 20x8.5J?

Hi guys

My friend has a 2015 L405 and he has a set of 20" wheels to put on it.

They are ET57 rather than the standard L405 20" ET47.

He wants to put 275/55/20 tyres on, because that is the only viable size BF Goodrich AT come in.

Bearing in mind the tyres are 20mm wider and the offset is 10mm different do you think this would:

A) fit on the rim, because 275 is just over 10.5"

B) fit without rubbing.

Or should he get Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac in 255/55/20 which is the correct L405 20" size and will fit fine with just a ET10 difference.

Thanks!

I'm far from an expert on these things..... however, standard is 275 40 22 but Craig is running 295 40 22's on standard wheels - compared to 295 40 22 - the 275 55 20's would be 0.6" taller - which is 0.3" each top & bottom. They would also be 0.8" narrower - so 0.4" either side - so assuming the ET thing is mm - then they shouldn't rub.....

You may want to check my workings & logic though as it's well past beer o'clock Confused

Whether they'd sit well on the narrower rim - I can't help with that one other than to say they are 0.8" wider that standard at 10.8" vs 10" which doesn't seem an excessive difference to me.....

285/50/20 Cooper AT3, just touch ever so slightly on std ET47 wheels, your friends wheels are ET 57, which is 10mm further in.

Therefore in terms of width they should be ok, but remember they are also a touch taller so that will be where any issue lies - if they were on std ET 47 wheels they would be fine - why doesn’t he just use std 20” wheels and sell the others off - they would look daft anyway 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
