Hi Mike, old thread I know but a bit of information please.
My 2011 4.4 tdv8 has the nut on the linkage. I've put a vacuum source on the pipe and I can feel the valve open half way and a few seconds later it fully opens. Release the vacuum and it thunks shut. Iv'e got it soaking with some spray lubricant as I type this.
The connection with the nut is free and not sticking so I'm hoping the lubricant will soak in and free the valve.
My question is that I don't understand why you say the valve only moves a few millimetres. From what I can feel it moves the valve about 90 degrees and the vacuum rod seems to pull in at least 15mm.
Thanks Kev.

The sticking is all external - the butterfly inside doesn't stick. Grit gets between the lever and the valve body.

by cleaning, oiling and seeing the actuator move

By cleaning it off does that provide a long term fix or only a few more weeks?

Indie just told me they replaced the part, 10000 rand or 550 pounds... which I would gladly pay to get back on the road provided that over time the dirt build-up damaged it to a point of being an unreliable / unsaveable component. 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

might depend on how much off roading you do but a periodic lube is all it seems to need

. Cheers, Greg
