replacing the 4 short hoses 4.4 tdv8

I decided to tackle the 4 short turbo hoses today having had them sitting on the desk for a few weeks.

First job it to remove the top cover and the rear air box/filter housing. this is held on by the bonnet seal and two nuts one each side.

Next unbolt the 2 lots of hoses each side

Remove the rear bracket for the engine cover.

you now need to remove th 2 bolts holding on the EGR pipe and a bolt from its bracket.

Now take off the turbo hose from the front of the throttle body, removing the small pipe with a squeeze clip and the electrical connector for the sensor. Carefully wiggle it out.

Remove the 4 bolts holding the throttle body on to the manifold.

remove the electrical connector from the throttle body and wiggle throttle body out.

There is now an electrical connector under the front of the plenum, which is in the way for one of the 3 bolts holding the plenum down. This is a real pain to get off but it needs to come off so you can get at the last bolt holding the plenum down. Remove the two bolts which are easily accessible, first then the one at the back where the wiring is in the way.

now you can slacken the hoses off and slide them onto the plenum.

there are a few pipes on the plenum which need removing. there is a water feed which needs unclipping in the front corner and some hoses and wiring in various places which need unclipping, then the plenum can be removed.

Re assembling with the new hoses is a reverse of this, put that awkward screw in the front of the plenum first! its not a particularly hard job if you know where all the screws holding the plenum down are. So basically you have

the 2 nuts on the rear bracket
the 4 hoses
3 screws at the front underneath.
the 3 bolts for the EGR pipe and bracket.

Thumbs Up

also a good time while its apart to check the rear oil seals on the turbo pipe.

There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
