Ad Blu

For the first time I’ve had to add 5 litres of Ad Blu to my 2017 FFRR as it had flagged up 1500 miles left and then after another 50 miles this dropped to 1000 miles. It needed more but the 10 litres plastic canisters at the nearest petrol station didn’t have a pouring spout so would have been impossible to drop in to the small neck of the Ad Blu tank. Distance to refill now 2700 miles. Warning message then extinguished but soon after the amber engine/emissions light popped up. Reading the handbook apparently if you replenish the Ad Blu tank, then this may occur, so then you have to restart the engine 3 times leaving it running each time for 30 seconds between each restart.
Naturally this didn’t work.
It’s quite a faff this FFRR combined with the regular return to the dealer for service messages which flag up every 3k..and now on permanently but apparently cannot be extinguished until it is actually serviced at the correct time/mileage.

I was flummoxed by ad blu before some said it’s just like adding screen wash!

I tend to put in 10L at a time & the light goes away.

Some ad blu packs have spouts set into the frame of the 5L bottle.

I also fill up prior to a service , then I don’t get smacked for that as an additional item.

Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

You may find search a useful tool https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic39769...t=add+blue
Get one of the big (I think 25 litre) bottles and fill up. The sensor does not recognise a bit being added and the car has hissy fits.
It is so disappointing that sales staff are still not explaining this properly on hand over. letters not necessarily in the right order

Thanks for the info. I’ll put more in today...but it’s not the Ad Blu message that is still on - this disppeared immediately but the engine management light/emissionsamber light which is on. Acc to the handbook to make this disappear one has to restart the vehicle 3 times in quick succession of 30 seconds running each time.
Anyway will fill the tank and see if this helps!

I was told that when topping up the adblu on a L494 that the ignition had to be turned or the engine had to be running on whilst refilling.

Not sure if this is also the case on the L405?

Jim

No need for ignition to be on Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
