speaker output

curious to know....

you have 100watt feed going into one 100watt speaker..

so if you had 100watt feed going into two 100watt speakers would it sound louder..

?

It's not all about power!

Assuming constants -- ie same amp, same cable, same speakers -- and the amp can actually cope with the load of two speakers -- then probably not! though positioning of the second speaker might enhance the experience! Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Going back to basic principles....
Two equal loads in parallel means double terminated, which means 3dB loss. ie half power,
so 50 Watts each.

No free lunch....

and amplifiers are very difficult to explain - but in both cases the 100W is a theoretical maximum.

If you wire 2 identical speakers in parallel, then the resistance the amp sees is halved - the amp will have an acceptable range it can support without damage - but halving the resistance means it needs to deliver a much higher current - and there's a limit on how much current it can supply.

If you were the 2 in series, the resistance is doubled so each speaker is only getting around half the power.

All theoretical anyway as other factors are likely to come into play before you hit the maximum anyway, clipping or some other distortion usually.

To confuse things even more, power can also be expressed in multiple different ways - peak, instantaneous, RMS, continuous etc etc.

Depends on the impedance of the speakers and the load on the amp.

2 speakers wired in parallel will show less resistance than one speaker. ohms law 1/rt = 1/r1 + 1/r2

If you have 2 speakers wired like that and they are both 8 ohms each, then ohms law say 1/rt = 1/8 + 1/8

So total rt = 4 ohms.

Now power is related to load, so an amp will be quoted as RMS power into a certain load. Normally 8 ohms. But you have a imposes load of 4 ohms. So the current the speaker sees is greater as it has less to drive, if that makes sense. So in answer to your question

Yes. Wire 2 speakers in parallel across speaker terminals - reduced load, increases relative power, will be louder.

However. Volume is related to the amount of current that the speaker gets. A speakers efficiency will be given in dB at 1w. No that might be 88 - 90 dB/watt. So at 1 watt your speaker is producing 90 db of sound. Which is quite loud. You then need to exponentially increase the power to get a lot more noise. So the chances are by the time you are using anything like 20w of power it’s plenty loud enough. And by 100w you will be blowing something.

Bear in mind the speakers will be rated at 100w at 8ohms. As you have effectively deacreased their impedance to 4 ohms they will be seeing 200w! Boom.

So at a given volume setting on the knob it will be louder, but you will run out of capability of either speakers or amp before you will notice much difference in max performance.

Did that make any sense? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
