4.4tdv8 power loss "restricted performance" SOLVED

So after a month of trouble free driving the first problem has struck.

It felt a bit odd this morning a little gutless then at about 2k it would take off.

Now the odd thing is that it only seemed to do it from a rolling start it appeared to be fine from a stand still?

Anyway a little later on it dropped into limp. Max of about 25mph

Stopped and restarted all was well again

The codes come back with.

Egr A high

Turbo boost low pressure.

I'm guessing the egr is sticking open? Or I have a massive boost leak?

That sound about right?

Search donut -some results below.

And check for the possible oil leak at the rear below the donut mount and clean the sensors..

I can’t just picture in my mind where that pipe fits.

Please can we have some pictures Thumbs Up

I can’t recall any previous similar failure being reported on a 4.4 tdV8.

Well spotted.

I'll take some more pics when I do the proper repair.

But for now the pipe is located under the cabin filter assembly. To the rear of the engine between the V. The round flex pipe fits to the top of the exhaust and this runs into a cast square flange that bolts into a manifold on the right hand rear of the engine.

When I started the car from cold there was noticeable smoke/ gasses leaking from the rear of the engine. As it warmed up this reduced so I'm guessing it's to do with the egr system?

However it did seem to be stopping the smaller turbo from providing any low down boost.

Now it's bodged back together it seems fine again.

Hoppo do you have an IIDTool?
If so, were you getting any error codes?
. Cheers, Greg

The pipe supplies exhaust gas to the EGR valve/EGR cooler.

My understanding is the EGR function is essential on DPF fitted cars as part of the regen process. So I don't think you can blank it assuming you have DPF fitted. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
