Adaptive Dynamics - recalibration | |
Having spotted on my Iidtool, after updating to the latest beta s/w, an option to set adaptive dynamics calibration mode and being very aware that my shocks have not been functioning well for some time, to the extent of being on the verge of ordering new ones, I was keen to see the result of setting calibration mode. The first drive was over my very rough, deeply pot-holed farm driveway then a few kms along a gravel road then back home. The drive back over the bumps and pot-holes was now very controlled (I have the suspension raised 30mm for this section) and not bashing the bump-stops.
The next drive was out to the sealed road and 50 kms to town where the ride was harsher than it should be. On the way home I again set calibration mode then after only a short distance the ride had returned to how it should be. Obviously the road for the first calibration was unusually rough so the shocks were set unusually firm whereas for the 2nd calibration the road was more normal.
The shocks on my previous vehicles have become soft after about 60K kms and totally useless by 80K kms. I had hoped that CVDs would last longer but after 45K kms of my driving plus 20K of the original owner's city driving the shocks had deteriorated to about the same state as those on earlier vehicles had at 60K kms. The shocks are working as new again although I know that they are far from new.
