Is this normal behaviour?

I always leave the lights set on auto.

Whenever I start my car the lights come on, then after a minute or so they go off, even at night. Then, if I’ve started up whilst it’s dark, after a minute so of being off, they’ll come on again.

Also,

Auto wipers don’t always work. In fact rarely work. They flip once then do more or less nothing.

Now, I know they’re both controlled by the magic unit next to my mirror, but a) are the lights ‘faulty’? And b) if so, is this connected to the wiper issue? (And c) is this something I can fix myself?) Tym

I wonder if you’ve got an aftermarket windscreen and that’s throwing out the sensors 🤷🏻‍♂️

Similar happened on my previous L322. A change of the sensor for a new one yielded the same result. I had to conclude it was the aftermarket screen. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I’ve had the car a year and the wipers used to work properly. Only really noticed the lights issues over the last month.

I *do* need a new windscreen as this heating element is broken in places but I think it’s the original. Tym

Where’s the best place to get a new sensor, and are the y difficult to fit please? Tym

Main dealer for a new sensor, its about £70. Easy to fit - clip off the mirror surround and you'll see it. Unplug the multiplug, use some tooth floss to saw the gel pad behind it to remove it. Clean up any residue with acetone or alcohol cleaner and a plastic scraper, fit the new one. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

There's also a wiring issue under the drivers seat on the main loom

I’ve seen that one 😉. However, I’d assumed that as his is next generation that the wiring might be different. Also, mine doesn’t consistently fail. Tym

My 2012 model had the wiring fault. It’s very easy to check the loom for damage. It could be that your wires are beginning to fail. I would have thought it would be worth checking before you buy the part.
My wipers were completely dead on auto and the headlights only operable in the manual position and the wiring was completely gone.

My lights work on auto, there’s just a short delay at night. Wipers erratic Tym
