2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Aintree Green

Just moved down to 20” rims

Bought unbelievably cheaply as new take offs with the intention of using up the new summer tyres before next winter and then using them as winter wheels, complete with winter tyres and saving the diamond cut 21’s for summer use.

Now I’ve tried them for the first time I’m smitten! The ride is superb (like my old XM’s now!) and I can easily inspect the brake pads without taking the wheels off

I can even mount kerbstones with impunity too (the rim protection is superb)

I’m even contemplating abondoning the 21’s completely

Great the ride has approved, personally the old wheels look much more classy. The new ones look like those on the Focus ST

They do, don’t they?! But then, I used to own a Focus RS, so I’m used to doing the Council House Supercar thing

However, when it comes to the 4 mile, off road, trek to our favourite holiday let in the Welsh mountains, or driving rock strewn country back lanes here in rural Cornwall, I can live with them not looking quite so sophisticated

i like your original wheels but i can see the sense in more comfort in the 20''...not sure on that style though..

I know what you mean but, at close to 40,000 miles a year, “style” is having to take second place to “practical”

I have to agree that your old wheels 'looked' better but having myself moved down from 22's to 20's I can appreciate that once I got over the look factor the car drove miles better.

i suppose in all that 40k miles you're inside the FF so you cant see the wheels, makes sense..

what tyre size are those, 255 55 20????

Really glad i bought the D4 too as these lanes are a bit tight around the Falmouth area... Not as concerned parking the D4 as I would be mine

Not brilliant, although usually worse in Devon for some reason

Anyway, I’ve never achieved this as an indicated mpg on the way into work before. The lower rolling resistance of the narrower tyres might be making the difference:
