Brake pipe front corroded

Hi I have a 2007 3.6 tdv8 Range Rover vogue it failed mot due to corroded offside front brake pipe and back discs and pads need replaced
I left it into the garage for repair the man phoned and told me rear pads and disks are replaced ok
But the front brake pipe line takes a lot of time as they have to remove a lot of stuff including fuse box to complete job
Has anyone anyone any experience of this
Thanks in advance

It depends on how you do the job.

The usual rust of the front brake pipes is just in the loop where it comes out of the wheel liner and connects to the flexi pipe. Easiest method of fixing is just to replace this small section (about 8-10cms). However, to do it you need to be able to flange the old pipe in situ in order to connect the repair section to it and some haven't got the tool to do it.

This method you could replace this section on both sides in about an hour. Current:

When I did mu front brake pipes I don't remember removing the fuse box. I am sure there is a connector block on the offside of the engine bay that you can run the pipe to the flexi from, think it only took me an hour each side, including taking the wheel off, liners out, etc.

They may need to take out the fuse box if they are doing the pipes across the back of the engine bay, but I would be surprised if they needed replaced as they a well protected and don't usually corrode 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

About to do my front ones on MY2009 TDV8 but won't get to them until next week. Timing is always a bad thing!
Really cannot understand why the fusebox has to come out ? Unless they mean the big black box in the engine bay ?

I have the tool to do pipes in situ so will probably cut and shut Thumbs Up .

Just had a look in the engine bay:

Front Right: drops down from the ABS unit to the gap between wheel arch liner and inner wing, doesn't go near the big black box.

Front Left: from the connector block on the turret, drops down with the two rear pipes through the gap between inner wing and wheel arch liners.

All will become much clearer once the inner wheel arch liners and covers are removed .

Having just replaced both front brake pipes on my TDV8 3.6 can advise as follows:
( I got MOT advisories on both sides, so wanted to get this done, on closer inspection both pipes were "OK" just some surface rust on the pipe near the flexi connection, but heyho...)

1. You do not need to remove any fusebox, anywhere!
2. Once the inner wheelarch and the smaller side protector (the piece behind the airspring) are removed
(turn the wheel out at the front for more access, and then remove the latter towards the front of the car)
and the pipework is disconnected, both pipes FR and FL can be removed into the wheelspace, with some
wiggling and jiggling
3. Remember the turns and twists required for each side as the refit of the new pipe is a reverse sequence
4. if making up your own pipes, enjoy copying the bends on both pipes Very Happy (it is easier with cupro-nickel). You will also need
to reuse one of the unions - the one that goes onto the ABS unit - unless you get a new larger sized one
5. LR use the "DIN" flare type, but I have not had any problems with SAE single flares

This was actually easier than on the TD6 Wink .
