EGR Valve split apart while driving

Dear members,

since I am new here I would like to get some suggestions from some experts.

Here the problem presentation:

Some days ago the engine control lamp went on. I took my OBD scanner which displayed the error message P0489 which is an indication that the EGR valve is defect. I drove home and dissambled the parts which were covering both EGR valves. The left EGR valve was ok but the right one was split apart which can be seen on the photo below. I decided to blank both EGR valves with blanking plates, besides that I shut off the EGR function within the software management system. After assembling all together I started the car and it ran/runs pefectly. Even though the car runs perfectly I am a bit concerned about the missing part of

the valve? I am sure some experts here could give me some advices or hints regarding the missing part, or where should I look for it? Maybe in the intake manifold or is it possible that it went down the EGR valve exhaust pipe in direction of the main exhaust pipe?

I appreciate your advices and hints.

Thank you in advance

Steven
