Heated Front Screen

had cause to use it today for the first time. Compared to an old Fiesta we used to have years ago that had it, it seems to take a while to clear and I've noticed that it doesn't clear all the way to the A Pillars either- it's about 6" short either side.
My wife swears the fiesta was the same, but did admit it cleared quicker.
Can anyone confirm if it's correct? Seems strange that it's exactly the same both sides, suggesting the elements are intact.

if you look closely into the screen you can see the wires that heat the screen, you can see there is a band on either side that is not covered by the wires, ergo, unheated. Discovery 4 HSE

Mine is wired right up to both A pillars but as I said, it stops 6'' short when switched on.
