Not sure what you mean by murdered...

Always easier to go up in price, rather than reducing your first offer....so go for the VAT reduction rounded makes it 95, really rounded as it’s not your spec is 90... they will be swift to tell you if it’s (the deal not the car) is a non starter.

Good luck Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

It’s probably worth close to list including vat, unfortunately, since avoiding the delivery lead time carries a premium.
Maybe 6% off if the dealer’s desperate. Sure, start low but my instincts are this won’t be a bargain.

So this is not 19.5MY? Meaning Apple CarPlay is not included / was a cost option? That 19MY was about £2k lower list than current 19.5.

For a brand new car... I’d say that is not unreasonable if the spec is right for you. Thumbs Up

Why “take the VAT off”?

Surely if someone has paid the VAT then the dealer wouldnt be expecting to give you the vat back?

If it was new and it was a deal or something then I get I have to pay the VAT but if its been paid already then why would the asset which is now 2nd hand have any of the VAT applied. surley a igure is assumed that it is now worth less thna the List-VAT figure.

I'm pretty sure if I traded my car in with 50miles that what I would be told. all smug in my new plug!

Dealers usually blame a lot of initial depreciation on “having to pay the VAT”. It’s a red herring though, as the VAT element isn’t being claimed back or recharged by anyone after the initial sale (except on certain lease / contract hire deals, but that’s a whole other can of worms!).

A car may be initially sold at £100,000 + VAT = £120,000 purchase price and £120,000 simply becomes the depreciation starting point.

The price will be whatever the seller and the prospective buyer agree, but my understanding of the VAT angle, based on what I have heard rather than anything else, is that if a dealer takes a vehicle for use in the business i.e. plant rather than stock for sale, either as a demo or a staff car, it can reclaim the VAT and the car then stands at the net of VAT price in its books. There will be rules on how long it has to be on the books for it not to be regarded as an artificial transaction. The dealer can then book a profit on sale above the net of VAT price. I heard this theory some time ago, so it may not be right any more, and indeed may never have been right. In any event a pre-reg would not be in that position, as it would not be used in the dealer's business, just in the dealer's stock for sale. Only Range Rovers since 1988

If it's any help, I sold my 12 month old 5.0SC MY 2018 last week, 115k new, they gave me 92k. It's on the market now for 108, which seems optimistic.
