Heading to Knaresborough with the tin tent

Evening gents,

Heading there in April with SWMBO & kids (8&5). Looking at going to Elvington for the air museum, should keep the kids attention for a wee while.

Also the railway museum in York.

Any other recommendations and must see stuff, bearing in mind the more interesting national trust stuff is a waste with smalll children!

Also in York, go up the Minster tower and enjoy a view of the city. Good climb, but time may be limited at the top. I managed to stay to join the next tour on the way down.

Trains of interest as you're going to the NRM? Try the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Pickering to Whitby, have a wander around Whitby, bit of a touristy area, but OK.

Robert Thompson's, the Mouseman furniture museum. Look it up, may interest you.

Sutton Bank, view from the top is excellent and a nice place for a picnic. A170 from Thirsk to Helmsley. Walk along the top and the kids can watch the gliders taking off and landing.

And if you like the James Herriot books, the museum about him in Thirsk.

Enjoy. Cheers
Richard

Aye will do, first time the L405 will have towed, should be miles ahead of the old 3.6 which was epic! New towing mirrors bought too, just need to clean the van if the weekend weather keeps calm!

I'm probably about to teach you to suck eggs, but

My first time towing with extended mirrors and self folding car ones, I didn't get the safety straps on mine quite right. Had to reposition them to allow the mirrors to fold. Just saying Confused Cheers

Cheers for that , I'll need to watch as the new mirrors are bigger than the ones they replaced. Not my first time towing , just with the L405 Thumbs Up . New mirrors don't have straps, but I might take them off the old ones just in case, an expensive and dangerous exercise if they come off at speed. Thumbs Up
