You have to short them together with them still connected, if that makes sense.... ie you are earthing one of the wires through the other, as one is ground. Sorry, can’t remember which one. It’s years since I did it. Think there is a procedure somewhere....

So put pin 32 in as 36 is already installed and then with the wire off pin 32 sort touch pin 36 that right

More info on here, first 2 pages.

The procedure is there too.....

But yes, the brown wire is Earth for the ULF and still needs to be earthed when you short the white wire to it.

You don’t need to get into the pins.... anywhere on the brown wire can be used to short to....I cut it and joined up again with a choccy block. Then I pushed the white wire into the metal bit on the choccy block to short to it, hence leaving the brown wire still fully connected and grounded. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Wire on pin 36 should be brown. Fully connected up.

Wire on pin 32 doesn’t actually go anywhere....short it to the brown wire that’s on 36... but 36 still needs to be grounded, so don’t disconnect it.

Simply shorting pins 32 and 36 will have no effect whatsoever.... you need 36 to still go to ground...

If that makes sense.

I took one of the unused pin connectors and put that on 32 so I had about 4 or 5 inch of wire to play with and was much easier. You prob figured that already.

Yes, that’s how to do it, but you need to then follow the pairing procedure that’s in the other thread I linked to.

You will get the 3 lights on near the dash screen if I remember right. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

-With the ignition off, press and hold the pairing button on the cradle (not the wheel).
-Hold for 5 seconds, then turn the ignition to the accessory position, the monitor should say 'Bluetooth Pairing' and the small LEDs on the monitor will flash.
- On your phone, search for bluetooth devices, select the BMW one and enter the 4 digit pin that is on the part number sticker of the ULF.
- You should hear a beep and see 'Pairing successful' or some such.
- Cycle the ignition to exit pairing mode, see if your phone connects. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

The pairing button is you shorting the wires together..... so you will have to short them in the boot...dash to the front to turn key and then dash back to separate the wires etc.

I’m in Chesterfield.

You have to get the timing right with the sequence. Keep trying it if it doesn’t work first time. You have 5 seconds to get to the front.... Rolling with laughter

You should be able to see if it’s worked from the boot by looking between the headrests at the screen in the front....you will see the 3 lights on.

I eventually put a switch in, but you only need to pair your phone once, so you can manage without if you want to....
