Radiator fan

I have to clean the MAF. To do that I'd to remove a serial of components as the radiator fan and its shroud. The refit the fan is a hell due to the shroud. After several efforts I broke the shrourd. Is important to keep this? And about the fan? Must be keep or the engine can run without it? I read on LROM that the fan is a waist of energy.
Cheers

Ran my TD6 for 5 years without the shroud or the viscous fan (the one attached to the water pump). Worked well in all weathers. The A/C fans do seem to come on a bit more. You may need it if temperatures get really high for long periods in Portugal....but you can fit fan without the shroud, just take care when opening up the engine bay when engine running. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
