Replacement upper tailgate

Hi all

My 2005 Full Fat has rust along the bottom edge of the upper tailgate. It was bad when I purchased it and some one had fitted a chrome strip to try and hide it.

I've had it filled and sprayed but it's starting to come through again.

I've found a local brokers who have one in good condition and the right colour.

Has any one ever replaced the upper tail lift that can give me tips or pit falls.

The wiring worries me more as the loom runs back to the boot floor. It looks like I have to thread everything from the existing and the run it back through the replacement. That's or joint about 50 wires where it's cut and removed.

Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated.

The wiring is actually far less daunting than you might think sir... Take a few pics for reference first!

Remove the inner plastics then unplug all the wiring at the bottom and thread it through to the right hand side, you will then see it fits neatly into a channel next to the glass. Pull it all out, then unplug the top wiring and as you take the tailgate off the wiring simply pulls through the two holes where the rubber grommets sit Thumbs Up
