Unexpected bonus with the TDV8

I was looking into getting the EGRs mapped out and I learnt this week that it had already been done AND remapped. I’m not sure what the output is now but I did suspect it had been done as felt a little nippy.

It also explains the low mpg as well. 25 on a motorway run. 15 round town. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Remap and egr deletes usually increase the mpg though not lower it...

25 mpg on a run is poor. Mine is mapped with egr delete and blanked.
I get 20-22 pootling around and over 30 on a run.
Got 38 one time doing a steady 55 mph. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Just a thought. If egr's were mapped because they were giving trouble, then maybe one or both are stuck open. Would explain poor mpg 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

I’ve also removed them and fitted blanks so they are completely closed now.

I may get it mapped again as I don’t know what map is on it and whether it was set up for power only or a balance of power and economy.

More evidence that I’ve bought a lemon though. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

When i had my 3.6 remapped and egrs mapped out i noticed a very slight improvement in economy. I did go for the middle map as opposed to the economy or pure power map. I was told by mapper that even max power map wouldnt really effect economy but i chose the middle map for peace of mind. 2015 4.4 AB

Get Ian Bodsworth to check out what map you have. He’s a BAS mobile guy and knows his stuff. Based in Telford but covers a wide range. Forum sponsor etc

That’s who told me I had a remap. He very kindly came out to me and read the ECU with his gap tool. He said it had been done reasonably well and the EGRs were blanked off. Couldn’t give any power figures or who had done it. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded
