So how are you supposed to sell an uninsured car?

I’ve got my TD6 up for sale but as I transferred the insurance policy to the tdv8 its no longer insured and therefore cannot be driven legally on a public road.

I’ve had loads of enquiries about the car but no-one is willing to come and see it as they can’t test drive it.

Wouldn’t it be great if a car could be driven on another policy? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Take out temporary insurance or sell it to the trade or WBAC etc.

I've always got a temporary cover which lasts around a month, just ask your insurer, it's common practice when selling vehicles. Last time I think it cost about £50 but that was a long time ago. If it goes on for over a month then the insurer might insist on getting full year cover instead of another temporary extension and it might actually work out cheaper when you come to claim back the unused when sold...depends on the policy.

Was that from your own insurer or completely separate online company offering temporary insurance which tend to be expensive?
I've always found my own insurer was pretty accommodating when coming to selling and temporary cover...guess that depends on who you go with.

Andy,

I believe your insurance will be invalid if it is not taxed, a bit of a vicious circle Censored

The plus point is, if you do get the car taxed you will be able to claim whatever is left of the tax after you sell the car.

Try One Call insurance.

I have my TD6 insured with One Call as a stand alone policy, while my no claims bonus is used on my L494’s insurance.

One Call have me on a full comprehensive policy for £230 per year.

If you did it this way you could still use your Full Fat and then just cancel the policy when it sells and get a refund.

Not true. You often see this stated and it's just not true. Even without an MOT you'll still be insured with at least 3rd party minimum cover.

You'll obviously need to tax it but is it possible to take out insurance online and cancel within the "cooling off" period Whistle Geoff

Noted, but you will still be breaking the law if you drive the vehicle on the road with no tax/insurance.
