Clarion CD Changer Intermittent Fault

Looking for some tech help with a faulty Clarion CD changer please. Car is an 07 3.6 TDV8 L322.
Having trawled through posts via the search function and other googling, i'm still struggling to find any info on a fault the same as mine.

I have the frozen touchscreen, with LR logo and flashing amber light on power button.
Have traced the fault via the fiber optic loop on the MOST system to be in the Clarion CD changer in the glove box.
Here's the strange bit; if I unplug the unit and then connect it again, the system works fine without fault - until next time the car is used or the module has shut down. No disc read errors etc, and no codes in GAP tool.

I am aware there is a guy on ebay who does the refurbished units but would like to see if anyone has experienced the same issue as me here first. When working, it reads discs and plays just fine.
Have taken the unit apart and done a visual check with an eyeglass on the PCBs etc. for anything obvious, but as it works when power cycled/reconnected every time I cant help but think that it's not necessarily a hard fault.
Also, have tried the battery disconnect/reconnect procedures and shorting the leads when disconnected to reset modules.
Always prefer to learn what the fault is and repair myself where possible.

Any help/pointers greatly appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for the replies both.

Stan - I did clean the connectors to rule this out but they were not at all dirty anyway.

Sonearly - I have seen the rangerovers.net posts thanks, however this is not what I am asking. My fault is specifically with the CD changer and i'd like to fix it instead of just bypassing the unit.
