To back Alistair's point I think the work BMW did with Rolls Royce was far more bespoke and befitting of the brand than what VW did with Bentley so whilst I have owned few BMW's in my time I have enormous respect for what they can do - the engine in a McLaren F1 for example is from BMW.... PSA is a clever firm too but underestimating BMW is not a good idea imho. 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

I don’t suppose this carries much weight to counter the gossip, but let’s give it a go:

aren't the 2.2 and 3 ltr. diesel engines in Tata's Jaguars made by Peugeot? Think so... |

No, they aren’t. The 2.2 hasn’t been fitted for several years, but none of these engines were built by Peugeot. Before the 2.0 and now the straight 6 were built at Wolverhampton, all petrol engines (since Ford owned LR) have been coming from Ford in Bridgend and all diesels from Ford in Dagenham or Chihuahua. |

Let me put it this way then, most moving engine parts will fit the xf and the peugeot diesel, here in France they advertise these parts as fiting...etc. The 2.2 was available until 2017 here. (Old stock?) I know, been looking for the xf station/ break for my wife and the dog, she did not like it. |

That because the engine design was a joint project between Ford and Peugeot Citroen, with each making their own versions of the engine. Many parts may be interchangeable but Peugeot Citroen don’t build engines for Ford (or those people, such as JLR, that Ford have/had supply contracts with) and vice versa |
