Does instrument cluster use a spinning hard drive?

When starting the car, I can hear something behind the instrument cluster that sounds very similar to a hard drive spinning up to a soft, high pitch whirring sound. I know the nav / infotainment system is hard drive based, but I'm pretty sure that drive is behind the infotainment head unit. The sound I hear is definitely coming from the left side of the instrument cluster. Does that panel run on a hard drive based system, too?

It's not loud enough to be irritating, but it's obviously loud enough that I can hear it...just curious what it is.

Yep, instrument cluster cooling fan.

The fan's in the dash and there's trunking feeding the air into the cluster.
