Fixed Price Servicing Costs

I note online that LR publish Fixed Price Servicing for cars older than 3 years. So mine requires a 30k Major service and this is quoted as £545.

Just spoke to the main agent in Tonbridge who has quoted me £858 Shocked They say it is more expensive because they have to empty the DPF Big Cry

Am I missing something here, or do I tell the main agent to jog on and go elsewhere (I have a closer dealer and also an Indy nearby)?

Cheers,

Surely it should be emptying its DPF in normal driving? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
New Defender D300 90 on order so "Rory" will be going to a new home....!

Same with the L322. LR online quote was cheaper than my local Indy but when I called the price went up £300......no prizes for guessing who got the job. Current: FF Westminster money pit

Gone:

RRS 3.6 TDV8
FL2 TD4

There have been other threads on this - and with L322 - the answers from different dealers always seem to vary - but seems poor practice.

I once asked for a fixed price service an a car under 3 years old & was told they'd do it, but not stamp the service book Shocked

It basically seems to be that they know that under 3 years most people stay main dealer, then drift to Indys, so they're trying to compete without cannibalising the lucrative earner they have with inflated labour prices.......

I went MD through the warranty then Indy

I know that in theory you don't need MD, but figured it would make any warranty claim waaaay easier

So is it Censored or can I just use fixed price servicing going forward. Dealer just quoted me £798.61 for a service, the dearest on the fixed price schedule is £545 or is there a catch? Geoff

Depends if the dealer is part of the program, I know we are but not all are - so the £798.00 and £858.00 are RRP prices taken from the service system (labour cost varies as you can see in the above quotes) You can paypal direct using - www.paypal.me/duckworthparts

Thanks Dan, that makes sense. I assume my Tonbridge dealer is not participating in the scheme. A shame, but that is their loss, not mine! SDV8 AB MY 2019

So, having cancelled the Service with the Main Agent, they called me today and explained that the L405 SDV8 variant is not on JLRs fixed price servicing sheet. Sure enough, it's not, but is quoted as TDV8 2014 onwards. They said they would honour the lower service cost of £550 pending clarification with JLR....

Unfortunately for them, too late as I have gone elsewhere on this occasion Rolling Eyes

But, but, but... does this mean that fixed priced servicing for older vehicles is manufacturer subsidised? I wonder what the thought process is. To get people milling about the new cars at the dealership, I suppose?

Some vehicles are £375, some are £395... I mean £20 makes a difference? There’s a serious opportunity to simplify such schemes, broaden them, and let them have a real impact on sales.

Unnecessary quote removed

I saw this price list recently and assumed that TDV8 2014 onwards was a typo as the 4.4 L405 has always been called SDV8, certainly from 2014. Can’t think otherwise what this would apply to if not L405. 2016 SDV8 AB

Mines a 4.4 diesel its a 405 BUT its a 2013 - this doesn't seem to be covered as there is no mention of 2013 as the table just jumps from 2012 to 2014 - missing me out Big Cry I don't know if its a TDV8 or SDV8 Very Happy Geoff

Nothing for a 2005 TD6?

Maybe Land Rover don’t think that any are still on the road 🤨?
