Change ABS Pump TDV8 L322 - questions

My mechanic called and told me the ABS-pump needs to be changed. So be it. BUT.

A new one costs 3500£, where as a used one will cost me 90-150£. So yeah, I am going for a used oned.

But can I just buy a used one, or does it need to be refurbished or deprogrammed or something?
