Viscous fan removal?

Hi all on my 4.2 I’m trying to remove my viscous fan to make life easier changing my alternator.

Now on my m62 and every other car I’ve owned a 32mm spanner and a few smacks to the right loosen it off... now my 4.2 is a 36mm and I hit it about 20times with a sledge hammer and no dice... any ideas?

Also should the 4.2 have an electric fan as there appears wiring but looks blanked off from factory? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

I had to do this on the 5.0 SC a few weeks back and in the end used a Coil Spring Compressor between the 2 spanners and wound them down.

I always use a "heel bar" , pointed end on the nut and a good whack with a 4lb hammer , keep the bar as vertical as you can and 3/4 the way across the nut (to the right hand side when looking down at it standing in front of the vehicle), will give you a better turning moment of torque, normally shocks them off with no problem , remember its a left hand thread !

4.2 is all dancing and singing electric controlled you will have a connector that goes into the rhs of the rad pack cowling as you stand in front of the car looking back.
