Upgrade speakers

Will it say on topix what level entertainment you have? I’ve just watched a video where the four low range speakers from a basic package was swapped for speakers from the top of the range system. Even with the standard amp you could hear the difference in sound. This was only the four speaker in each door. Apparently Craig knows about it Thumbs Up [/code]

Hay Felstmeister... Don’t know tonnes about the speakers in 405’s but what I do know I will happily share...

The speakers in my car (a 13MY AB car) surprisingly had some water damage, either from weather/rain running down from the window rubber strip or from condensation? I suspect water ingress from the window rubber though...

So, I purchased a complete setup from a 1400w Meridian premium system from a car breakers yard. Now, interestingly the speakers turned up and were all carbon fibre! Happy days! So I fitted them and none were bad 👍 crank up the sound and no more distortion!

Fast forward a few weeks and I popped in to see Simon and he then fills me in on the audio/speaker info they have found... And yes, his speakers sound notably better (as do mine) over the originals

Hope that all helps 👍

Thanks Craig. Same. I know absolutely nothing about them either. All I know is I have meridian on the door speakers. What I don’t want to do is buy the speakers and find they’re exactly the same when I’ve took a door trim off.

Not wishing to hijack this thread....

Craig, which breakers did you source your speakers from? I have the full 1700w signature system in my car and I’m looking to replace the covers on the speakers located on the rear of the front seats. The covers are badly marked having been caught by the rear seats when they fold. Mine’s a 2013 AB, later models automatically move the front seats away when the rear seats fold to prevent such issues. 2019 L405 SDV8 Autobiography

Buz I bought the whole interior sir as I had a customer with a light fire damaged interior... sorry 😐

I’m currently sat on a beach in Crete but am happy to dig out their details when I return in a week or so 👍

Does anyone know how you can find out what system you have in your car? Looked on topix but can’t find anything related to stereo.

380w, 825w surround sound and 1700w premium. Judging by the fact mine hasn’t got surround sound written on the covers and just meridian I’ve got the 380w? I’ve got the speaker grill in the centre of the dash but I’m guessing the dash is the same throughout the range and there’s just no speaker in there. I haven’t had chance to go have a listen to make sure.

What system did you have Craig? Wondering if it’s worth upgrading speakers to premium if it’s only the 380w?

My AB has the standard 825w system and I fitted the speakers from the upgrade 1700w system only because mine were showing signs of both water damage and a previous owners over eagerness with the volume/bass switches...

I read on another forum that the 825w amp can be easily swapped with the 380w. Apparently it’s a plug and play whereas the 1700w is totally different. Although watching the video powerful uk did it looks like they only had the 380w system and it still made a difference.

I give up. I called the dealer today to find out what stereo I actually have between the 380w or the 825w. They came back with “you’ve got the 600w high line”

As if I wasn’t confused enough.
