Scotland 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

After 31 years of owning and driving a full fat I changed to a 300DSE Velar 3 months ago.

300BHP 700Nm torque, a bit lighter than the FF so a quicker car, smaller inside and slightly harder to see out.

Just towed a 2000kg caravan over 2000 miles through France and it tows like dream.

Miss the active cruise as it was used so not able to spec it.

Ian

Can’t afford a newish one and the older ones seemed a bit temperamental

Will you be keeping the Merc? Or changing them all?

Hope all’s as well as expected with you and yours sir... Bow down

I will probably be buried in the SL mate.

All good, hope the same is true for you all.

So I think I will be advertising it once the weather improves enough to wash it !!!

Thinking that the only seats as comfy I have come across is non-sport Volvo, so going to head down at the weekend and have a mooch at the various offerings.

I’d look at a V70, we previously had a D5 version 55 plate which we had for years. I’d also take a look at a 330d touring but I suspect it would be a bit hard. Not really given it much thought though. I suspect we’d actually go older as not much takes our fancy with the current shapes. My wife’s getting itchy feet to sell her SLK and get an old SAAB 900 cabriolet which she owned for years........

I hired an Audi A6 Avant 50TDi in Germany and it was an epic car for an "ordinary wagon". Seriously, it went like stink and interior quality was reasonable. I found it very comfortable, it had loads of space and the tech was decent.

But that low ride height? It would not be for me long term, no. A Bentley Bentayga would be an alright second choice to a FFRR, or perhaps a GLS AMG or BMW X7 or Cayenne Hybrid, or even an XC90 T8. Or more sensibly priced, how about my wildcard choice: an optioned Ford S-Max! Thumbs Up

Emperor M I’m getter worried about you. You used to be a paragon of FFRR virtue! 😳🧐

Their website is cr@p, their design is the old jeep Waggoner. I’d rather have a Volvo!

That Rivian is one fugly car.......

I’d always thought I’d have an RS6 Avant after the FFRR, but I’m increasingly drawn to the Velar.

Fortunately my wife says no to both and insists we keep the L405

United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Carpathian Grey

I've recently been looking at the jolly old Freelander 2 HSE Lux from around 2013 vintage.

The Fatty is such a thirsty old girl and whenever we do a longish trip, it brings it home to me how much these cost to run. The last bill for the coolant hose under the Supercharger suggested a cheaper runner might be wise. Pensions are limited after all.

The cost to change might take a while to recoup though. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

It’s the first car I’ve ever owned where i’ve never toyed with the idea of what i’ll Replace it with; I’m going to hang on to it for as long as possible Thumbs Up

It’s certain that what ever replaces it will be a lot more sensible (duller) and almost certainly electric, so if I can put it off for another 10 years, I’ll be very happy Very Happy

I have been toying with a GL420 CDI, not as aesthetically pleasing as an FF but big enough for my needs, anyone had/have one? Thumbs Up
