Keeping Ignition on for Sat Nav upgrade

I've just bought a sat nav upgrade and in the instruction is says keep the engine running for 2.5 hrs. Having seen the Powerful video I wonder if its possible or even recommended to make the ignition stay on all the time with a c-tek attached. I think my neighbours would get annoyed if I left the car running for that amount of time - to say nothing of someone nicking it. I could go for a long drive but you go a heck of a long way in 3 hours. Shocked Geoff

it doesnt have to be 'one' journey of 3 hours, it could be made up of shorter trips..but you must leave the usb plugged in until it fully updates ..only draw back is that you loose radio and nav during this period... ... - .- -.

Everything’s going smoothly so far with Sat Nav upgrade, up to 40% with multiple short journeys, it just keeps picking up where it left off. One thing is that I always listen to Radio 2 DAB and I never gave it a thought but this has been on and working the whole time although I can’t Bluetooth and stream music from my phone (can’t make calls either as the system doesn’t even see the phone) and of course Nav doesn’t work. Geoff

It was probably me - and likely it wasn't tuned & I just assumed Embarassed

I did mine on a run from Barcelona airport to Andorra and I have never listened to the radio there.....

Sorted, I even went to test it on a by-pass that was only completed in 2019, previously my car looked like it was driving off road when on it - now perfect Thumbs Up Geoff

Just booked my regular holiday for next year in April instead of October. SWMBO asked where will be going in October, I'm now thinking driving to France especially with my Sat Nav upgrade and your (Stan) recommendation but I'll wait a while before I surprise her Very Happy . I just realised I hijacked my own thread - is that even possible? Geoff
