replacing d3s xenons

whilst browsing ebay for some d3s 6000k bulbs i've come across quite a few listings for led bulbs that the sellers claim that they will replace the xenon bulbs and give a brighter light...
i'm dubious that leds can replace the hid xenons....has anyone done this conversion? ... - .- -.

didnt go down the led route but fitted some 5000k bulbs today...the off side was easy but for the near side i had to remove the air filter box completely to access the rear of the headlight.. ... - .- -.
