High miles 2011 TDV8

Hi, Well my old girl has just had it`s MOT today and passed without any faults or Ads It`s done 125k and when I got it 3 years ago at 98k the service history was patchy, I set about changing all the oils, including gearbox oil, and brakes all round, I have kept up with all the normal problems and since my 3 years of ownership I change the engine oil and filters every 6 months she is booked in next week for another change of gearbox oil as I do a fair bit of towing a large Tin tent.
My next job is to change the drivers seat leather which is on backorder with Dan @ Duckworths.
It would not put me off buying another high miler maybe an L405 but for now why should I when mine works just as well.
JLR have sometimes a bad reputation but you have to bear in mind that it`s a complex car and very expensive and it will do more than any other car in great comfort.
The wealth of information that is free on here is worth every penny of the yearly subs Rolling with laughter which helps me keep my car on top form Thumbs Up

I think we are entitled to expect more. In this day and age is 125,000 miles "high miles"? My last vehicle was a Land Cruiser Amazon which I sold with 150,000 miles on the clock and it went like a Swiss watch. A good friend of mine has an 80 Series Land Cruiser which, the last time I drove it ( with about 3 tonnes of French oak behind it ) had covered 250,000 and drove really well - engine, gearbox, brakes etc. Why should Land Rover products be considered high mileage when they get over 100,000 - remember the recent story of the L322 4.4 Tdv8 Range Rover with well over 300,000 miles. Personally I would go by service history and the type of driving rather than being fixated by mileage. Any thoughts??

we have an high milage 2010 4.4 tdv8 252,000mls just failed mot, front to back brake pipes
but this is the first mot that its failed!
we looked at a same year 100,000mls one at same time and that one had never passed an mot first time
so it doesn't always go that high mls is bad

I agree, 100,000 is not particularly high milage in terms of the overall wear and tear on the car. Its an arbitrary figure in any case.

in the majority of the rest of the world they work in KM, so there isn't the 100k miles panic.

My disco has just clocked over 102k and it runs like a sewing machine.. the fattie is still only on about 65k, so that is becoming LOW milage!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

At ten years old and 151k miles every single thing on my L322 works as it should. Apart from service items it has not needed anything. When I bought it, it had 124k miles on it and I bought on condition and service history. Mileage is now way down on my list when looking at these cars... the only exception would be if I was buying and planning to sell on after a year or two, owing to other people's paranoia about mileage. Very Happy
