Have I brought a lemon?

I purchased my 4.4tdv8 2011 back in February .. and shame on me because I purchased the first one I saw.

Now I’m a petrol head through and through and I know better. But I fell in love there and then. I didn’t know anything about range rovers at that point I came from BMW’s and my car before the L322 was a e46 m3 and I knew it Inside and out.

So other than a new battery since February I’ve had no major problems at all. I struggled a little with my fbh which cane down to the car being on its original battery but other than that no problems for 6 -7 months

Now I’m the space of 1 month I have a possible oil leak

A definite water leak which has kind of been fixed and a big old bill and now I have a coolant leak.

Just feel a little down and overwhelmed by it all to be honest.

Do I just keep going?

I know one thing my credit card is going to be close to its max after the water leak and now the coolant. Just worries it’s the start of problem after problem. Regards

Daz

Keep going!
I'm in a similar position, I looked at dozens 'online' before I found the 'one' which had everything I wanted, tracked it to Manheim auctions & bought it, so in reality, bought it blind/untested.
I've had her a couple of months, had a mega service on her, now waiting for the inevitable 'message' to appear on the dash, as they all do apparently........or do they? So far, she's been as good as gold although I've hardly done any miles.
If it needs fixing, I'll get it fixed. I too came from an X5 which in 5 years was totally faultless, so I'm expecting the worse with the RR as everyone outside the RR fraternity roll their eyes when you mention what you've got.

Your oil leak maybe simple along with the coolant leak (oil cooler gasket?) so you spend a few shillings here & there every now & again, but what have you got at the end of the day, possible the nicest 4x4 in the world?
I've resigned myself to shelling out the odd pound or three on mine, if & when she needs it, that's going to be part & parcel of the RR experience.
What do you do?.....hang on in there, find a good Indy is a must with reasonable rates & use quality parts & you'll be fine. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Doesn't sound like you've bought a lemon tbh but they can be very expensive cars to run particularly because the average run of the mill garage generally refuse to work on them.

Best thing to do is find a trustworthy independent specialist and try and keep on top of the maintenance

No Lemon, Just a few niggles & items that are applicable to these vehicles. As mentioned before try using an independent rather than JLR at Eastleigh.
Don't wish to say too much about them for certain reasons.

You'll appreciate driving it now the weathers changed Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reply’s guys.

Sometimes it’s nice to hear like minded people tell you to keep going. I’m sure you all know what’s it’s like to hear non car guys say get rid of it.

I do love the thing when it’s working 100% it is the nicest car I’ve ever driven. I think that’s what makes it so stressful when they go wrong. Regards

No mate. I can’t see anything in the engine bay.

It’s going in Wednesday to the dealer for them to sort out their poor tailgate alignment. I’m gonna have to get them to find it. Regards

Do you have rear AC? If you do then you will also have rear heating, this means Ali coolant pipes with steel fixings running to the rear! A usual place to find coolant leaks Whistle Thumbs Up

Keep going - it’s an 8 year old car and maintenance repairs are to be expected. If you think that’s expensive a major service and brakes pads & discs can set you back over £2200 at a main agents on later models with a big engine and Brembos 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Defo avoid main dealers once you've got tailgate sorted. Plenty around these parts! I found another in Haslemere. SLR Automotive. Superb customer service and ex LR guys Thumbs Up 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
