Boost /turbo issue

Hi
My 2011 4.4tdv8 has developed an issue and hope someone can help
Recently it has developed a sort of flutter when driving along normally accelerate hard back off and it would clear.
Today leaving work accelerating normal it seems to be noisy on boost and went into limp mode .the right hand or drivers side air filter sounds loud if I rev it at idle there is a chatter or flutter from the right hand air filter .taking the hoses off either side the right hand seems loud as if its boosting on idle but not the left
Cleared the codes which were boost pressure and boost control solenoid
Drone for 5 mins and went into limp mode again

Any advise welcomed no smoke starts fine
Cheers all

Welcome to the forum Mark

Boost errors usually mean loose pipework.

Standard starting point for the 4.4TDV8 are the four donut hoses.

Plenty of posts on there.

I had a spluttering then limp mode, loose intake pipe from the intercooler:

Thank gdrr
I've had a few where boost pies have leaked but caused black smoking ghen limp mode
Do you know why it would sound a lot how do I put it ...whooshier on the right hand filter
I've removed the pipes of the filter housings
The right hand (drivers side ) has loads of vacuum
If you rev it and throttle off you get the chu chu chu of the only noise I can explain
Theres no vacuum for the left hand side on idle
Switch it off when the fault is active and ot seems to run on for a split second
Cleard the codes which I have now forgot so will have to do again and it stops as it normally do
Drive it again a s fault reoçures
I'm wondering would it be a stuck actuator as it seems to be boosting hard whe ita mot under any load ?

Yep the codes would help. But sometimes (like my post above) they don't always give you the right steer.

I would suggest a smoke test.

Also the next thing to check is the CSOV you should check it and lube it. Can seize up.
It's a vacuum operated valve for the second turbo's air feed

. Cheers, Greg

Thanks GGDR
Will the valve you mention try and make the turbo stall ?
It sound like it's trying to boost way to hard when it's not under load then flutter when the throttle is released.all of this is when it's not being driven just revvving as if the turbo pressure cant get out .waste gate perhaps or what controls the pressure

Welcome Mark, have you recently tried reversing up a steep hill? You can provoke a high level of turbo waste gate chatter that way!

When you open your bonnet, the air filter on the left side (drivers) feeds the turbo that works constantly. The right air filter feeds the secondary turbo... Hope that helps a little?

Hi Craig
That is exactly like it is
Only with then vehicle stationary and revving it seems to be generating the same sort o level of boost your talking about which doesent seem natural

Would the secondary turbo valve cause this or a boost solenoid or something of this nature
