Hi all just some thoughts I was chasing a whumph noise which was intensely irritating there was also a slight metallic click
First stop rear diff as when the oil was taken out (it had only been there for 10k ) it was like treacle so the paint had dissolved on the inside to make a nice paste so replaced the diff. Noise still there - so replaced all the wheel bearings and front hub carriers noise better but still there but at different pitch and speed replaced the drive shafts all round big improvement but still there so front diff was next as it was a bit grumbly another improvement but a very faint noise only under load so rear prop off sent away splines sorted and also new bearing now it is quiet but in the middle of all that the handbrake went south so needed a new one and subframe dropped so my question is have I over spent on a 2007 car with 187k on it ?
Last reading with 11d was zero faults including fbh
It has cost me a bit of effort and about 4k
