Lack of power / poor fuel economy? - Possibly fixed

Yesterday I did a 250 mile trip which was mainly motorway and dual carriageway.

I noticed that Sylvia was not as responsive as usual and my fuel economy appeared to be down a little.

Fired up the IID tool and found the below faults

I was going to start by checking and changing the various hoses that can split and degrade. What else should I check?

Jim

EGR has been blanked Dave. That was one of the first things I did when I bought the car.

Where is the turbo actuator on a TD6?

A Trap

Check for boost leaks on hoses etc, performance and fuel economy will go out the window from a small leak.

Hmmmm.... I can’t see any splits or holes.

I was going to replace all the hoses with a set of these

Any other hoses I should check?

Jim

Have a look at the Vacuum unit and solonoid hoses for leaks especially at the ends, one goes down to the turbo.

Wayneg you are a star!

It has just stopped drizzling so I went out and popped the bonnet and, even though I have been under looking at the inter cooler hoses and prodding around I had completely failed to spot this:

The pipe is in poor condition but I popped it back on and the engine note immediately changed back to its smooth old self. I will take Sylvia for a test drive later and report back.

Thanks Wayneg, fingers crossed 🤞

Jim

Glad to be of help and thanks for the thanks. As you can see on my car the exact same vacuum hose has failed and I changed it to red silicone. If there is enough slack it's easy enough to nip 1/4" of each hose for a tighter seal. 2007 TDV8 VSE
