My new (to me) 4.2

I collected my rather nice 4.2 supercharged yesterday after a 4 hour train ride to collect. It was more than worth it for the brisk drive back through the Peak District Smile
I read a lot about the difference in power between the 4.2 and the 5.0 but for the vehicle I think the 4.2 is more than enough (my opinion), suits the vehicle beautifully and it’s deceptively quick for its size! Overall very pleased with my purchase. This is purely my observation and up until now the only 4x4s I’ve owned have been Defenders!

Yeah it does still show its weight under heavy braking doesn’t it 😳
I have a very very slight bit of feedback through the wheel when heavy braking so need to get that looked at ASAP. Possible wheel bearing? I spent this morning giving it the once over and gave the leather a good clean, I’ve also found a few bits to sort. The drivers heated seat comes on for about two seconds and then cuts out and the rear washer doesn’t work.. and the rear fans don’t work, but other than that all good and it runs great! 😄🤞🏼 Good old Landrover

Went for a little drive around the farm today to see if anything’s dried out enough to get on with some work. Only mod so far is colour coding the wing mirrors which I wasn’t sure about but now think looks 100% better 😁👍🏼

I love the 4.2 (and will again once repaired) i cant get over how well they pull and the sound is beautiful.

the washer doesnt work on ours either, need to sort it at some point (right down the list)

we had the slight vibration under breaking and then it started to vibrate at speed as well, turn out to be a lower front wishbone think it was.

Loving the Rangie, it’s already been to Devon and spent the week driving around the Norfolk coast. The other cars are getting seriously neglected! The feedback through the steering wheel turned out to be warped discs all round. Replaced for Brembo discs & pads and all seems well. Just need to fix the heated seat and rear climate now. After reading up on here it looks like it could be a cracked pipe at the rear of the driver seat?

Hi all,

Happy New Year!

How does one go about disabling the auto steering column on entry and exit? I’d rather just leave it in the position I use! If anything it moves to the furthest position in which catches my knees 😂 It also seems like unnecessary wear and tear.

Can it not be done on the screen. Think it’s “easy entry” There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

On my 2011 I stopped the wheel moving via the onboard menu. Easy entry/exit or something like that Thumbs Up 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
