Can letters be painted

I've but this in general because if can affect all cars. My lettering is tarnished

I have got some new letters but swapping them seems to be a ball ache has anyone tried painting? Geoff

To mask them off to paint them perfectly, would probably take me two or three times as long as fitting new ones.
Go with the new ones Thumbs Up - all depends upon your OCD level Rolling with laughter

I'll second that, much easier to replace than paint... offer up the template to the existing letters, tape it across the top only, fold it back on itself and tape it out the way, remove the badges with fishing wire or decent tooth floss, clean up with petrol if you have nothing else... let the template drop back down and stick the new ones on...

Stand back and admire and then notice the E is upside down...!!! Shocked Pete

Once you have changed the lettering, then you can do a tip top spray job on them and you then have a good spare set for next time Thumbs Up

When I bought mine, the tailgate had been re-done, paint etc. took me weeks to notice that the front and back 'Range Rover' letters were a different shades, still not got round to changing any, and no one else has ever noticed Whistle

My tip to get rid of the residue glue/sponge is to get a small artist brush and dab on some white spirit. Do it about three times till it's fully soaked and the trick is to leave it 30mins. It then virtually wipes off with a cloth. I always do this on my wheels to get rid of old wheel weight adhesive.

Best stuff I have found to remove the glue, is -
'De-Solv-it Sticky Stuff Remover' dab it on and leave for a while, rub and re-apply a couple of times, works well, then just a soapy water / water rinse.
The stuff is British made and quite cheap, from Tesco / Asda etc

Just have to get the spelling right, if “E” is upside down it would be facing the wrong way (I would spot that) but I do need to watch my “N”s Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Geoff

Another cheap residual glue remover is “zippo” lighter fluid, dirt cheap & works very fast! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

The supplying dealer painted mine when I mentioned they were tarnished before completing the purchase. I'm hoping they are now good for life. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

Well I bought the letters but haven't got round to it yet so I spent a minute painting as I'll be replacing them anyway.
