United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey
Tracing previous owners

Am I right in thinking this can’t be done anymore due to data protections?

My TDV8 has had a couple of former keepers. At some point it’s had a remap, 22” alloys fitted along with a black pack. The previous owner said he bought it like this and only had it 5 months. Through facebook, I traced another owner who said when he sold it, it was completely factory standard. So between these two owners it was tarted up.

DVLA used to give you a name for a fee but I think that’s gone now. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Zermatt Silver

I remember reading only this week that DVLA wont give details of previous owners any more and they are not listed on the V5 anymore either.

I have contacted previous owners of a couple of cars to discuss 'issues' and on one occasions used that information to reject a car for a refund. Current: FF Westminster money pit

Gone:
RRS 4.2 SC
RRS 3.6 TDV8
FL2 TD4

I always pass on invoices for work done etc when I sell my cars, so the next owner tends to have my name and address somewhere, if not even my phone number.

I’d like a way to see where my old cars are now......you can’t find out much, other than if it’s taxed or got an MOT.

A few years back for £5 (yes five pounds) you were entitled with fair reason to request all information DVLA held about your vehicle. I requested this on a couple of cars and the information was very comprehensive, including owners and details on registration number changes. On one old 911 they even dug out ancient microfilm info. How on earth £5 covered that amount of work I never figured out. Last time I used the service was around 2007 for a different 911 which I still own and and it forms a very credible part of the cars provenance. I haven't checked, but with data protection and so on now, I very much doubt this service is still available.
