L322 2002 M62 bmw v8 help and advise needed,

Help and advise please.
My 2002 l322 m62 BMW V8 has been running well until recently when it started for a split second then cut out now it wont turn over on the key, on the dash its displaying engine failsafe gearbox fail safe HDC and suspension inactive I have recharged the battery disconnected both terminals for 20 mins still nothing , now it wont connect to a diagnostic scanner ?.any advise is welcome.

when you disconnected battery did you touch the 2 wires together a la reset instruction in the wiki?

Fond the problem, the wires from thermostat housing sensor have melted up to the ECU I believe its not uncommon for this to happen on these BMW M62 engines, no wonder I could not connect to ecu with my scanner.

Well done in finding that one thermostat wires are a common issue on these engines mainly the electrical connector failing due to water leakage. If you havnt done it all ready do the stat mod while your there don't use a standard state housing and swop out all the water hoses before they fail on you due to excessive heat.

Thanks for your reply, I now need to change the engine loom due to the melted wires up to the ecu I just hope the ecu is still ok ?, I was going to replace the stat housing with the cooler running one and a new rad while I am at it.
