Side steps playing up

Where do you lube these things, mine sometimes will not retract other times will not deploy (Drivers Side). I've looked, there are no stones caught up in there a quick spray with 3in1 sometimes gets an improvement but it doesn't last. I suspect it needs some thicker grease but where? Geoff

Original WD40.

I've got into the habit of doing mine everytime I clean it, I've got some fairly horrendous country lanes round here so always give the hinges a good jetwash when cleaning and then give them a good dose of WD40 on and inbetween anything that moves. I can just reach the door handles when laid down next to the car so I work the steps at the same time as spraying. Current

It’s funny you should say that. Mine have not deployed twice. Both times when parked on a slope and both road surfaces cobbled and pitted.

I would expect it not to operate in certain terrain response modes, but normal mode?

Can’t seem to find the answer but can they detect uneven surfaces?
