SDV8 v Golf R32

Travelling home from my daughters earlier today on a fast, straight, wide and safe road a car had been close on my tail along slower roads for some time. Pressed the right pedal and and up to the legal limit, the car behind couldn't keep up. Let it go after reason and I could see it was a Golf R32. Lovely sound as it passed though !!

They’re a great shopping car, I’d definitely buy one if I needed something smaller. But, as you have shown, the torque on cars like that falls way short and, once rolling, the pickup is noticeably weak by comparison to a big oil smoking V8 like yours. Thumbs Up

Glad to read you’re sticking to the “legal limit” Rolling with laughter L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

An R32 is only 250 BHP and won’t have the torque of the SDV8 but I reckon Mikey is right he wasn’t trying too hard as the R32 engine does need to be worked hard to get the best out of it I know as I have one in my track day car.

I had a scat pack challenger move into an exit lane before a red light to overtake me from a stop. As a rule of thumb I don't let people use turn lanes to overtake me. He wasn't expecting the range to be as quick as it was. Smile
