Washer fluid gelling

Not sure if anyone else has suffered from this? Rear washer stopped working over a few weeks and on inspection there were traces of gloop coming from the nozzle.

Did a bit of research to discover that washer fluid can turn to gel. Apparently different types of washer fluid can react and cause this effect?

Anyway, long story short, I removed the tailgate upper trim and disconnected the nozzle. There is a sort piece with a one-way valve in and I also removed this. Using compressed air I could blow this through and a length of gloop shot out. I was then very fortunate to be able to pull a length of gloop about 30cm long intact from the washer fluid pipe that feeds the rear wiper arm.

All back together and ran through all the existing fluid and a good amount of fresh water before refilling with new washer fluid.

Also soaked the wiper arm pivot in penetrating oil as it was seized solid. Got it moving and applied a little grease. Put the top tailgate trim back on and all seems to be working better than ever. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I have been told never to mix different brands of washer fluid as some turn to gel when mixed. In particular I believe the Porsche screen wash is prone to this when mixed with other makes.
