Recirc and then auto or something like that.
My Sport and Freelander 2 just had one function on the recirc button

Honestly, the whole system is quite complex, interdenedent etc. and I don't think I could really do it justice.

However, the recirc appears to do just that when you select or not, going from fresh to recir air. I also think there is a sensor that may be able to decide of the air quality outside justifies shutting it of and recircing automatically. Thus if you have a poor air day you could recirc manualy, such as when you go past a rather smelly pig farm, or the great unwashed.

How that ties in to the pollen filter etc I have yet to decipher. HTH. Cheers
