United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

All black looks fine until you kerb one - the diamond cut ones hide a bit of kerb rash quite well.......

That’s a difficult one, without seeing the results first. Are the wheels already in your car and are you going to get the wheels refurbed anyway?

If so, I’d mask the diamond cut surface with masking tape and use a rattle can to spray the spoke innards on the front black and the rear grey and the answer should become obvious Thumbs Up

Kerbing wheels Alistair! Not on my watch! Laughing

Good idea RM, very good actually... too late though... the wheels have never been on our car. They went straight to the refurbisher the other day. They'll probably have dip stripped, blasted and corrosion treated all of the wheels by now. They want a decision on the colour code tomorrow (they paint the whole wheel, inside and out, in your colour of choice and then they do the diamond cutting before lacquering).

So far the poll votes are 50% grey inserts, 50% black inserts.

Wonder if they could paint mix the inserts to be metallic Santorini black (as opposed to gloss black inserts) if opting for black instead of grey of course... OCD kicking in again... and breathe Laughing

Sorry pld, I’d not seen that there was a Page 1 when I posted my comment earlier Rolling Eyes

While I wouldn’t change away from my current preferences for 20” rims (but there are really good local and practical reasons for having those!), there’s no denying that the turbines look fantastic, in either black, or grey. But, now that I’ve seen them in the photo, with black inserts on a black car, it looks perfect. I’m voting black, with no doubts at all 👍

Cheers chaps... one of the refurbishers had just finshed a small VW diamond cut wheel with black inserts and it looked spot on. So I'm confident they'll look good... if black is selected Laughing

Thumbs Up

Internet sample photographs. Apart from all silver looking wheels, it’s actually hard to tell the difference other than close up!

Bottled it, played safe and opted for the factory grey finish... Partly based on the 3 above side by side images, partly because it's hard to tell if it's black or grey (due to natural light shadowing anyway), partly due to my 'keep it factory' OCD and partly for future resale appeal... Whistle

Went to collect the car from the refurbishing factory today. They've done a cracking job of the wheels. Spot on in every way. First class refurbishers.

First impressions of the wheels on the car were... "oh no... preferred the ones that were on it." and "maybe should have selected black inserts over grey" Shocked

Think our car would definitely look better with turbines less mudflaps. Maybe that's it!

Left it with them anyway because there was the slightest of imperfections where they'd inadvertantly nicked a part of a rim fitting the tyre. Fair play, they immediately apologised and said they'd do it again. Very impressed. Top place Thumbs Up

In the meantime, the original 22s can be pld118 cleaned ready for putting them back on the car Laughing

They're really smart, it's just a totally different look from the traditional sparkly alloy silver grey finish of the style 5004s... I do think the mudflaps off would do the trick Thumbs Up

I bloody hate mudflaps! They look Censored on 405's!

Don't be too hard on yourself Ryan, i didn't like turbines on mine... They lasted less than a day on mine!
