The body colour trim on the lower part of the driver's door on my 06 4.2 has come away at the bottom. There is a U shaped channel into which the bottom edge of the door should fit. It is not in the channel.

What is the easiest and least damaging way to refit it correctly?

I have the same problem aft left.

The U-shaped profile underneath sits outside the door instead of being around.
Where is the panel fixed?
Try to avoid damages, better ask before...

Have I to remove the inner panel for getting the outer off?
